I had been wanting to cut my hair for years but was scared of how it would look! One December day in 2009, I just did and it's been me and the scissors ever since. I've been having a whole lot of fun with my short hair, but the non-time consuming weaves have been my friend for the past few months. My sister is natural and all of that natural talk had me wondering what kind of curl pattern I have!!!! Curiosity is #winning, so the last time I took my hair down I cut the remainder if the permed hair out.
Now, I must admit that at first sight my response was "uh huh! This aint it.." I was sooooo NOT feeling it! I'm sure it was just the initial shock of it all, but I felt UGLY!!! In dramatic mode I swear I heard India Arie's 'I am not my hair' playing in the background! HA! It's funny because my theory is when you do something drastic to change your appearance, most people that you encounter afterwards, didn't know what you looked like before. So there is nothing they have to compare too. This is what I always tell people! Own your look.... but I found it hard to take my own advice. <---It happens!
Anytime I do something different with my hair, routinely I put on full make-up and one of the baddest pair of earrings I have! Silly to you maybe, but I'm visual and need to see the full effect. This time was no different and my TWA grew on me!!! LOL The thought of being able to wash and go at the gym in the morning was taking over!!! Only thing holding me back now was all of the attention I knew I would be getting at work. After all, I made an announcement that I was going to wear my Fro, and one of the responses was "For what, Halloween...?"! *Blank Stare*
AwkwardBlackGirl (by the way this web series is hilarious) moment.
I decided to weave it back up that night, because I want to let it grow some. I also want a splash of color at the top. I'm so excited!!! I will be rocking my fro soon!!! I
Took some pictures before I put the weave back in. Check them out!
Keep Dreamin,
